Findings from EAB’s 2020 Parent Survey: New Insight on How Parents of College-Bound Students are Evaluating Schools

EAB's biennial survey of parents of college-bound high schoolers offers unique insight into how parent values and search behaviors are evolving over time. The 2020 survey included new questions on increasingly critical aspects of the college search process, including how school websites influence parent decisions, as well as how the COVID-19 pandemic is influencing families’ college planning, budgeting, and school selection.

The survey results highlight:
• Specific ways in which the pandemic is affecting parents’ college-search approach
• How the pandemic is impacting high, medium, and low-income families differently
• How the maximum price parents are willing to pay for college has dropped since 2018
• The impact that school websites have on parents’ college selection
