Using Data-Informed Research to Transform a University

How a small private technical university partnered with EAB to improve campus recruitment, retention, and decision-making

In the early 2000s, Lawrence Technological University, a private university with 2,848 students, was largely a commuter campus with many post-traditional students. The end of that decade brought a global recession that cost Lawrence Tech more than 400 students as tuition reimbursement programs dried up. Leadership knew the institution needed to change in order to survive.

After initially partnering with an EAB research forum in 2010, Lawrence Tech expanded the scope of this relationship over the next several years, joining EAB’s Global Research Partnership in 2018.

The impact of Lawrence Tech’s partnership with EAB is evident across the institution, from enrollment and program growth to improvements in key student outcomes. As one Lawrence Tech leader said, “Everything we’ve done with EAB, from recruitment to retention to marketing, is all paying off now.”
