This session shares how CLC uses Navigate to help connect students with community resources, like housing and food support, which is helping improve retention for students who are facing personal barriers.

Specifically, this session demonstrates how College of Lake County:

  • Deployed student-centered design principles to develop key student success themes, definitions, and focal points that steered the resourcing review initiative.
  • Surveyed students to better understand what retention barriers they are facing, including students who withdrew from individual courses or from the college entirely.
  • Developed a methodology to measure the volume and impact of specific retention barriers to better understand how many students are experiencing them, and how severe the outcomes are.
  • Leveraged Navigate technology to build stronger awareness of what resources are available to more proactively address student needs.
